Another movie review

From IMDB:
At his new high school, a rebellious teen Jake Tyler (Sean Faris) is lured into an ultimate underground fighting club in a Backyard Fight, where he finds a mentor in a mixed martial arts veteran. After receiving threats to the safety of his friends and family, Jake seeks the mentoring of a veteran fighter, to train his mind and body for one final no-holds-barred elimination fight with his unrelenting personal nemesis and local martial arts champion Ryan McCarthy (Cam Gigandet).

Basically, Never Back Down is an adrenaline pumping, aciton packed, violence filled and high school based movie. From the summary itself, it already sounds very much like a typical "guy" movie where all we see are flying fists, jumping kicks, wounds, cuts, bruises and blood here and there. However, I'm here to tell you that Never Back Down is actually a rated U movie, which is suitable for everyone and anyone. (Despite the obvious explicity of violence)

Ladies first. This my female readers, is Sean Faris aka Jake Tyler in the movie. Err.. 'Nuff said? Lol. Anyways, this Cristiano Ronaldo look-alike here is the main character in the movie, and as the summary stated, he goes through training and stuff to try and beat his enemy. So.. Throughout the movie, you ladies will be able to see this hunk training his hot body to fight the good fight.

Other than that, the fight scenes in this movie is not as gory and bloody as you think. It's more of like.. Fight Club rather like something taken from 300. Get me? Yeah so instead of seeing blood and tooth flying across the screens, you'll be seeing sweaty bodies, man meat, flexed muscles and much more of the tantalizing body of a man. Now, ain't that more than enough reasons? Oh and just a fun fact: Sean Faris gained a whoppin' 15 pounds of muscles for his role. O_o

As for the guys... Despite the fact that Never Back Down is already a macho guy movie, another reason to watch it is because of the girl above. I'm pretty sure no one has ever heard of her.. but this girl is a rising star and guess what? Her name's Amber HEARD. LoL

Moving on, Amber Heard plays Baja Miller in this movie. She's the girlfriend of Ryan McCarthy who later falls for Jake Tyler due to his err.. righteous-ness, looks and charms I suppose. She plays the bad guy's hot girlfriend who winds up with the good guy and does a good job at it. Not to mention a certain HOT scene between Jake Tyler in the movie. Hehehe.. XD

And lastly.. It is a good show for everyone because this movie talks about family values and a sense of self-morality. The problems that Jake faces with his family, Amber with her self acceptance, Ryan with his dad, Jake's mentor with his dad and so on provides enough drama to keep you drawn in. This is what makes Never Back Down a good movie as it is all-rounded just with a touch more of violence, sexuality, language and other typical teenage problems.

There you have it, Never Back Down ladies and gentlemen. Check it out and give it a try, you have my word for it. [=

Wake me up when september comes

Ahh yes, with barely a week left in August and September peeking around the corner, boy how time flies. As the month comes to an end, the month ahead has many many things in stored for us. In just one word: TV SERIES

First up, is none other than the popular hit series, Gossip Girl. The Upper-East Siders of Manhattan's elites are back with a whole new season where anything and everything can happen. And... Our ever friendly Gossip Girl will be there to cover it all with her usual juicy rumors and gossips. A whole new season of tantalizing characters!! What more can anyone ask for?? Season 2 will start airing on 1st September so keep your eyes out for it! If you won't, I certainly will. [=

Next on the list, is the veteran running series of House MD. Everybody's favourite sarcastic, narcissistic doctor with one hell of a drug problem is back! This time with all new medical mysteries and out of the ordinary doctor-life-problems. Although it has been 4 seasons running, this the 5th, those who watch House would agree with me that Dr. Gregory House never fails to deliver an interesting and entertaining episode. So who's to say that Season 5 is stretching it? House Season 5 will start airing on 16th September.

Last but not least, the highly anticipated return of Heroes in their 3rd running season entitled, Villains. This delayed and prolonged season after the writers' strike has been one of the hottest topic all around the year and many people are looking forward to it, especially me! Heroes Season 3: Villains brings about a darker and more sinister story as it explores the thin line between being a hero and a villain. This is one TV series you don't wanna miss. Trust me. Heroes Season 3: Villains start airing on 22nd September.

Oh yeah, just about forgot one last thing. As September comes and marks almost the end of our school year and draws us closer to the end-of-year holidays... So comes along the final exams!!! Yep, my exams are starting around late September or early October. So yeah... =S

Oh God, a little help please?

P.S. Don't forget to jot down the dates eh? XD

Only Hope

Well well well.. 7 days into the Beijing Olympics 2008 and guess what? Michael Phelps won his 6th gold, tallying up to almost half of USA's total gold medals. This Man of Alantis is indeed a FREAK!!! 6 golds and 6 world records. And.. He's not done yet! As he aims for 2 more golds in the final 2 events.

FYI: He won gold for the 200m Individual Medley just today along with another world record

Roaring with joy after a narrow win in the 4x100m freestyle relay

The 4x100m freestyle relay itself. A MUST WATCH olympic event.

Moving on, Malaysia's last and only shot at their FIRST EVER GOLD in the Olympics lie on none other than the World No. 2, Lee Chong Wei. Lee made it through to the finals after beating Singapore's Ronald Susilo, cruising past Indonesia's Sony Dwi Kuncoro & outplaying Lee Hyun-il of Korea just tonight. He will be meeting either World No. 1 Lin Dan or Chen Ji, both from China. If Lin Dan makes it through, it will be another Lin Dan vs. Lee Chong Wei classic, and we all know how that turned out eh? Hehe. Let's hope that history repeats itself, just this once. XD

So c'mon people, let's support Lee to do Malaysia proud in getting their first Olympic gold ever by cheering him on all the way!! Don't forget to watch the match this Sunday night, August 17th.

Go Lee Chong Wei!! Go Malaysia!!! =D

Event-full

One hectic weekend just about passed. Or rather it already did, just that today's a school holiday in lieu of Singapore's National Day. Yay! =D anyways, been pretty busy as my mum and aunt & uncle + family came down to Singapore. Staying out and spending time with them, the usual things. Soo.. Here's a list of things I've been up to!

FRIDAY:

School's own celebration of Singapore's National Day. Practically wasted half a day in an auditorium sleeping it through. Owelz.. What can I say? I'm Malaysian! =D After that.. Met my mum, got my supply of food which.. err.. most probably can last me till end of the year! Hahahaha (just joking, but my mum does bring ALOT of food) Had dinner, then went back to my hostel to catch the Beijing Olympics opening!!

Gotta say, the opening ceremony was incredible!! China really put in alot of effort into impressing and aweing everyone, showing off to the world who they really were. One word to describe it all? Epic. Simply epic.

SATURDAY:

Boarding school's ASEAN cup. (Inter-national soccer tournament) Both Vietnam A & B went through to the semi-finals, and so did Indon A & China A. The team I was rooting for, Asian A aka Geek Squad (Yes, I know. Blame the idiot captain for such a name. Haha) lost by goal difference. Owelz..

Made my way to aunt & uncle's apartment @ Yishun and just spent the rest of the day there till dinnertime. Had a fabulous and filling dinner @ Fish & Co.

Ordered the Swordfish Collar and simply tucked myself in!!

Got hooked to the fishy food there and will recommend anyone and everyone to try it out! Especially the calamari rings.. Yummmm...

SUNDAY:

A slow, lasy morning led to a late brunch @ Little India. 1st time ever stepping into that place and 1st time also tasting authentic Indian food. Had their signature fish head curry with briyani, mutton curry, yadiyadiyada.. the entire package! It was magnificent. The spices, curry, meat and everything else was damn good and wasn't too spicy for my taste so was able to enjoy and savour each and every dish.

Watched the Love Guru later that night, (stupid ass movie) don't bother wasting money watching it in the cinemas. Download or buy the pirated CD's better. Unless you're a die hard Jessica Alba / Mike Myers / Justin Timberlake fan then go ahead! Had supper then went back to catch the China vs. USA basketball Olympics match!!

China got slaughtered by the NBA All-Stars from the 2nd half onwards. They put up a good fight in the first half, going crazy taiko with their 3-point shots, but guess they just weren't good enough to stop USA. I've said it once and I'll say it again, "Yao Ming is just one person. USA's got the whole team." And that's why USA won. Pure talent and superstars filling up the entire bench. I even dare to say that the basketball gold is already theirs.

MONDAY:

School holiday in lieu of Singapore's National Day. Said our goodbyes, went our ways and splitted apart as me, my mum, aunt & uncle + cousins left for our own things. So yeah, that was my long weekend. How was yours?

A random post

Hey! Hey!!! HEY!!!! Wanna know something cool??? My spectacles have superpowers... Seriously!! Been averaging around... 7-8 hours of sleep in total the past two nights, and to my surprise and everyone else's, I haven't fallen asleep in class for two days straight! Not a single time! Nor a feeling of sore eyes, a case of nodding off... yadiyadiyada. And... The reason behind this, I think are my spectacles! Because I've been wearing them throughout school hours and never took them down during class. It may well be the secret behind staying awake in class. Coolio right?

Quotes of the day:

"You and your jokes are so lame. That's why you can't do stand-up comedies." - Chai Jia Ren, Vice-Chairman of 4.18 Jude aka the guy with the default -_- face

On Macbeth, "Huh? WTF??!! Banquo died?" - Chan Xin An, 4.18 Jude class joker
FYI, the literature oral test on Macbeth is in like.. Two days?? Lol.
_______________________________________________________________________

This coming Saturday is Singapore's 43rd National Day. So in lieu of that, my school's gonna celebrate it on Friday (Yay! No classes on Friday!). Not only that, my school's gonna do some school historical event by putting the entire student body consisting of 2000+ people on the football field and form the map of Singapore with the number 43 in the middle!! Sort of like... this:

Yeah I know, it somehow resembles a rhino with the number 43 tattooed on its body. Lol

Yep so, BIG thing man!!! Cannot miss this for the world!!! (Note: Sarcasm used here) Oh and did I mention we're suppose to turn up in red t-shirts or white t-shirts with red prints on it only? Imagine the different country flags with these two colours on it.. Was thinking of either wearing an Indonesia or Japan flag. Waddya think? XD

Thank God It's Friday... NOT!!

Well yeah.. As you can see from the title I had a bad Friday and watching too much Borat. Haha. So, let's start from the top shall we?

Started off the day with some stupid annual mass run aka cross country which is compulsory for all students. Wasted the morning as the different category competitions went first before the school mass run. Walked like 3/4 of the route then just sprinted the rest to draw out some sweat.

After that, the intial plan was to go play pool but.... One guy couldn't make it, another lost interest and it was only me and another guy left. No way was I gonna just play pool with 1 guy, just abit 2 gay for me. =P So, we ended up swimming, steaming, and slacking around at my friend's place and went for lunch at McDonald's where the mass run was held. -.- right??

To top it all off, after a short friendly game of soccer, I sprained my ankle. AGAIN. Not just any ankle, the same one as last time. My right ankle. =S Guess I hafta spend my weekend kuai-ly in boarding school and get some work done while my ankle heals. Haiz... How sad. T.T

Worst thing is, I'm more worried about my ankle after it heals rather than the condition it is in now. C'mon, spraining an ankle twice in about.. 3 months? =\ Who ever heard of such a thing? Hopefully I'll still be able to walk at the end of this. God knows what my ankle will be like...
